In the old days, before cars came along, the fjord was the road between places in Norway. Boat building, sailing and trading are not just Jondal's history, but its identity. Today, the fjords are a trade route for many, but also an environment full of experiences. We can totally understand why this fjord consistently wins awards among the best travel destinations in the world. Are you ready to explore its waters?

The fjord can be explored in many ways. From hikes along the waters edge, to RIB safari, rowing an old church boat, fjord cruise, or from the cockpit of a sea kayak. In Jondal the contrast between the glacier and fjord makes the fjord experience even greater!

Transport

The Jondal-Tørvikbygd ferry is one of the main gateways to Jondal, taking just 20 minutes to cross the fjord itself. There is also a tourist boat on the Hardangerfjord, whose closest harbor is in the village Herand - 15 minutes drive from Jondal. Bergen is just 1,5 hours away by public bus.
