About

The last bit of the road going right (200 m) ends at Vassenden. Here you can find the information board which describes the tours in this area. If you go 20 m further up you can find the hiking signs for Stuasete and Knutstøl. Follow the route to Stuasete, which will take you along the lake side of Vassendevatnet, over marshland before it then rises up to the mountain cabins of Stuasete. Hiking signs here show the routes to Dåren and Vatnasete. Take the route for Dåren. The path up to Dåren is steep in parts. The end point of the trip is at a large, singular rock on the mountain ridge. From Dåren you have several tour choices; you can continue on hike 13, or take an unmarked route up to Jonstein (from where you can connect to hike 12). Another choice is on an unmarked route to Knutstøl (see tour 11).

Season

June - October/November.

Tips from locals

Bring food, drinking water and windproof clothing. Waterproof walking shoes or hiking boots are recomended. We recommend that you bring a map of the area and a compass, or a GPS. Cell phone signals are NOT GOOD during the whole of this hike. Dogs must be kept (by law) on a leash at all times between April 1 and August 20. Open fire is prohibited in the hills and woods between April 15 and September 15. You are free to walk anywhere in the hills and mountains. Take care of the nature and show special consideration to all wildlife. Please do not litter. Ask the Tourist Information («Juklafjord») regarding angling/fishing and the purchase of fishing permits.

Arrival

Take road 105 from Jondal towards Folgefonna. After 5.0 km follow the left hand fork at the road sign to Molve. After 160 m (passed a bridge) you keep to the road leaving on the right. Then after 700 m choose the gravel road going left. After about 100 m you come to a gate. If you continue by car this is a toll road. The pay point (cash only) is beside the gate. From here the gravel road (2.8 km) is good and ends at a good car park. Parking at own risk.
